231.5 million Web sites worldwide; Is U.S. saturated?

Netcraft reports finding 231,510,169 Web sites in its April survey of server responses. That’s up 6 million from the March survey.

Meanwhile, TechCrunch has interesting observations about where the growth is coming from by country. Based on March 2009 comScore data, the growth is in China, Russia, Brazil and India.

U.S. growth at 1% suggests that we may be saturated. 163,825 this March compared with 162,619. (And no, I don’t know how they define a Web site.)
