Cell-only Homes Now 1 in Every 5

One in five American homes (20.2%) rely exclusively on cell phones for their telephone communications.

That comes from the latest national health survey by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

And another one in seven homes (14.5%) took all or almost all their calls on cell phones despite having a landline connection.

More than 41 million adults and 14 million children live in homes with no landline, but at least one cell phone. They are more likely to be poor, renters or living with unrelated adult roommates than people with landlines.
