One in 5 Net users update their status (Pew)

Maybe they don’t do it daily (much less hourly or even more frequently, thank Heaven) but they do it, according to the Pew Internet and American Life Project.

Use skews toward women (yes, 21% vs. 17% men); African American (26%); young (shocking). Not much difference among education levels and household income.

Mobile users three times as likely to use Twitter than Internet users who do not access online via their cells, and the more Net-connected devices you own, the more likely you are to tweet.

And much more in the “Twitter and Status Updating, Fall 2009” report.
